What Makes ALVA Different
There are 100s of manufacturers of decorative lighting fixtures available today. The options can be mind boggling.
However, for the design professional there are 5 critical factors:
1. DESIGN
The design of the sconce must be correct, working within your project. At ALVA we adhere to a philosophy supporting Modernism:
Simple good design.
Every detail matters.
There are no trends, just solid timeless design.
Scale is critical when we design a new fixture. We focus on the sizes which will work with a specific design. Hence the reason we shy away from custom.
2. FUNCTION
With lighting, the fixture has to work. This may relate to light output or simply how the light produced affects space. We started the company 16 years ago. We came from the LED component business, had deep understanding of how they perform, and how to best use the technology. ALVA sconces perform. They are both efficient, and do the task they were designed for.
Most decorative lighting manufacturers focus solely on design. They make a product which looks good. However, they don’t take into account how the product actually performs.
3. QUALITY
A light fixture is more than something which looks nice. It illuminates, has a specific function. Should it fail, that function no longer exists.
When we specify lighting fixtures we all assume they will work forever. With modern day LED design this is not necessarily the case. So many products manufactured today tend to fail.
On a commercial project quality is critical.
40 years ago we had simple designs, supplying 110V to an incandescent light bulb. All that could fail was the lamp (bulb) or the input power. An LED fixture today requires an exceptional driver, appropriate thermals, proper optics and this list goes on.
Alva has been making decorative lighting for 16 years. What makes us special is the fact that we don’t have failures.
We expect the shade to look great forever.
We use marine grade aluminum which will never rust and/or corrode.
We use proprietary resins guaranteed to withstand the harshest of conditions.
